New Principal Named For Mary T. Murphy Elementary School
Branford school leaders announced the new principal on Friday.

Information released in a news release by the Branford Public Schools:
"It is with great enthusiasm that Ms. Imani Jones has been appointed as Principal of Mary T. Murphy Elementary School. Imani will officially join Branford on July 1, 2023. Imani brings with her six years of building leadership experience as a principal and assistant principal in Waterbury, and most recently, the Booker T. Washington Academy in New Haven.
"Additionally, Imani has over a decade of experience as an elementary teacher and literacy specialist across grade levels. Imani is student-centered and deeply committed to cultivating learning environments where students and staff can flourish. Imani’s collaborative nature and ability to quickly connect and develop relationships with all stakeholders is at the core of her leadership. Throughout the interview process individuals commented on her passion for leadership, care for students, high intellect and warm personality. Imani will balance high expectations and care for the Murphy community with dedication and grace."

"Ms. Jones stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join such a welcoming and collegial education community. It is my please and a true honor to serve, in a leadership capacity, among caring and dedicated educators who value the social-emotional growth and academic success of all students as much as I do.”
"Imani holds a Masters in Elementary Education from the University of New Haven and a Sixth Year Degree in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University. Superintendent Hernandez stated, “we are excited to welcome Imani to BPS and look forward to working with her as the Principal of Mary T. Murphy School.”
