Branford Police Investigating High-Flying Drone Seen Over Shore Drive

Branford police looking into drone seen daily between 12-6 p.m., over past 2 weeks flying at 1,000 feet, or 900-feet higher than allowed.

BRANFORD, CT — The Federal Aviation Administration allows recreational drone pilots to fly at or below 400-feet above the ground in what it describes as Class G, or uncontrolled, airspace. In Branford, the altitude limit is 100-feet above ground.

The Branford Police Department Sunday noted in a social media post that it had been "made aware of a drone flying nearly 1,000-foot altitude in the area of Shore Drive between the hours of 12pm and 6pm over the last two weeks."

Police said it's "investigating this incident and would like to remind everyone to enjoy their drones safely and observe the 100-ft altitude limit in this area."
