BRANFORD, CT — Winter is officially behind us, so the spring solstice in the Northern Hemisphere defines. So too is the winter construction shutdown of the Walsh Athletic Field Project. It's sprung forward and "progress continues daily and remains on schedule," according to Branford Public Schools.

In a recent post on social media, the district provided an update on the project.

  • Turf and light poles have been successfully installed.
  • Work is currently underway on the playground areas and retention ponds.
  • Paving, landscaping, and sitework to enhance the softball field will begin as weather conditions continue to improve.

It was noted that the area is "still an active construction site" and folks should "stay off of the field and out of the construction area."

"Additionally, absolutely no dogs are allowed on the field," the district wrote on Facebook. "Dog urine and feces can severely damage the turf and pose a health risk, making it unsanitary for our students, student-athletes, and community at-large."
