Shortly after posting about the Wilford Avenue fire, the department shared this post:
"Branford Dispatchers and Firefighters were kept busy overnight with multiple incidents. Along with the working fire on Wilford Ave, Stony Creek Rescue Fire Company 5 encountered a dramatic lightning strike on Cedar Street while responding to a smoke investigation. We are grateful to the Guilford Fire Department for assisting with two medical emergencies as all BFD units were tied up with ongoing calls.
While we faced challenges, our thoughts are with the communities in the western part of the state, where devastating flooding has caused unimaginable tragedy. We extend our deepest condolences to the families who have lost loved ones."
