James M. “Jamie” Dean, 48, passed away May 10. A Fairfield University graduate, he worked as a landscaper for many years, and with his landscaping skills, Jamie was proud of his previous contribution in maintaining the Branford Land Trust trails. Jamie enjoyed snowboarding, golfing and being outdoors.
David D’Amelio, 75, passed away May 8. Born in New Haven Aug. 1, 1949, he worked as a bartender for many area establishments for many years.

Edgar R. Surprenant, Jr., 87, of Branford, passed away May 13. He served in the U.S. Army at White Sands, where he met his wife. They settled in Branford for 58 years. A University of New Haven electrical engineering graduate, he worked 40 years at SNET. He was deeply involved in his church and local politics. Known for his quick wit, diverse skills, and generosity, he always had a project underway and eagerly shared his knowledge with others.
Peter Tillou Brainerd, 92, passed away on May 8. He met his wife Elaine on a blind date in college, married her in 1955, and served in the Air Force until retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1992. He worked in the family auto business, specializing in British cars, and enjoyed car shows in Vermont. He and Elaine loved traveling, especially to Grand Cayman. Peter was active in his community, serving as president of the Stony Creek Association and on the Branford Sewer Commission.
