The 'Sweeny Todd' Opening At The Legacy Theatre Was So Popular That More Shows Have Been Added
The Stephen Sondheim, 8-time Tony Award-winning musical will continue its run for an additional weekend, now through Aug. 31.
BRANFORD, CT — The Legacy Theatre, for the first time in their 5-year history, is extending the run of one of their mainstage productions, Sweeney Todd.
The Stephen Sondheim, 8-time Tony Award winning musical will continue its run for an additional weekend, now concluding the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, Aug. 31.
The show, which opened with a preview Thursday, followed by the official opening Friday has had strong ticket demand since it was first announced.

Audience reaction to those initial performances was very enthusiastic. That response coupled
with an ongoing demand for tickets resulted in Legacy making the decision to add three 7 p.m.
evening performances on Thursday, Aug. 28th, Friday, Aug. 29, and Saturday, Aug.
30. Two additional matinées were also added on Saturday, Aug 30 and Sunday, Aug. 31
31st at 2 p.m.
The Legacy Theatre, celebrating its fifth anniversary this season is ending on a high note.

"Our final two Mainstage productions have been met with a great response by the public. In addition to the extension of Sweeney Todd, we are also seeing excellent ticket sales for our final Mainstage production of the year, Noises Off, a farcical comedy which will star James Roday Rodriguez, star of TV’s Psych, along with several other popular actors," Executive Artistic Director, Keely Baisden Knudsen, said. "Then we will be back with a brand-new holiday production called Scrooge and Marley, a companion to A Christmas Carol."
