Town Opens Warming Centers As Arctic Blast Grips Area
The Community House, and James Blackstone and Willoughby Wallace memorial libraries are open for specific hours now through Tuesday, Dec. 9.

BRANFORD, CT — As frigid temperatures are expected to impact Branford over the next couple of days, the town announced that the following locations will serve as warming centers during this extreme cold event:
- Community House located at 46 Church St., Friday through Saturday (December 4-6) from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Tuesday (December 8-9) from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- James Blackstone Memorial Library 758 Main St., Friday and Saturday (December 5-6) from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday (December 7) from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Tuesday (December 8-9) from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Willoughby Wallace Memorial Library, 146 Thimble Island Road. Friday and Saturday (December 5-6) from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday (December 7) from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Tuesday (December 8-9) from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The town notes that people who are sick or have been in close contact with someone who's tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 10 days should not visit any of the sites. Those who need emergency temporary shelter, please call 2-1-1 or 203-481-4248 for assistance.
