Town Opens Warming Centers As Arctic Blast Grips Area

BRANFORD, CT — As frigid temperatures are expected to impact Branford over the next couple of days, the town announced that the following locations will serve as warming centers during this extreme cold event:

• Community House located at 46 Church St., Friday through Saturday (December 4-6) from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Tuesday (December 8-9) from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
• James Blackstone Memorial Library 758 Main St., Friday and Saturday (December 5-6) from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday (December 7) from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Tuesday (December 8-9) from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Willoughby Wallace Memorial Library, 146 Thimble Island Road. Friday and Saturday (December 5-6) from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday (December 7) from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Tuesday (December 8-9) from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The town notes that people who are sick or have been in close contact with someone who's tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 10 days should not visit any of the sites. Those who need emergency temporary shelter, please call 2-1-1 or 203-481-4248 for assistance.
