14-Year-Old Injured In Shooting In Bridgeport: Police
The shooting occurred Saturday afternoon, according to Bridgeport police.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 14-year-old was injured Saturday when the teen was shot in the leg during an incident on Union Avenue in Bridgeport, according to police, who are asking for the public's help in solving the case.
The shooting occurred just after 5 p.m., and police were notified of it through a ShotSpotter gunshot detection alert. Roughly half an hour later, Bridgeport Hospital contacted police that the 14-year-old had been brought in, suffering from the gunshot wound, which is not considered to be a threat to the teen's life.
"The victim arrived at Bridgeport Hospital’s Emergency Department via private vehicle," wrote Shawnna White, Bridgeport's Press Secretary, in a statement. "That vehicle was abandoned on Mill Hill Avenue. Several items of evidentiary value were secured along Mill Hill Avenue and within the 700 block of Union Avenue."

Members of the Bridgeport Police Department’s Forensic Identification Unit are processing the evidence, and the Detective Bureau’s Crime Gun Intelligence Team is investigating the shooting and are developing strong leads.
"However, the Bridgeport Police Department is still requesting your assistance with solving this crime," White wrote. "Anyone with information is asked to contact the case officer, Detective Matthew Goncalves, at 203-581-5240."
