16 People Displaced By 2-Alarm Fire In Bridgeport: FD

The fire was reported Saturday on Sixth Street, according to officials.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — No injuries were reported, but people were displaced by a two-alarm fire Saturday afternoon at 56 Sixth St. in Bridgeport, according to authorities.

The blaze was reported at about 4:30 p.m., and when firefighters arrived at the scene, they found "heavy fire from the rear of the structure and commenced an aggressive interior attack."

Additional details were not available, but the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal's Office.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced occupants with "a recovery envelope containing information helpful to families recovering from a fire, including tips on cleanup; notification of important contacts; dealing with damaged items and more."

In addition, the Red Cross also provides comfort kits "containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a resident might need when suddenly displaced from their home by a fire."
