79-Year-Old Woman Killed, Hit By Vehicle In Bridgeport: Police

She was crossing the street when she was struck, police said.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 79-year-old woman died after she was struck Friday by a vehicle while crossing the street in Bridgeport, according to police.

Marilyn Jones was walking west on Washington Avenue around 8 a.m. when she was hit by a vehicle traveling south on Coleman Street, police said. Jones, a Bridgeport resident, was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where she died of her injuries, according to police.

“We offer the family and friends of the victim our deepest condolences,” police said in a news release.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, authorities said.
