Administrative Posts On Cutting Block In Bridgeport Public Schools
More than three-dozen positions are reportedly set to be eliminated to help address a nearly $40 million schools budget shortfall.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — As it looks to close a nearly $40 million budget shortfall, the Bridgeport Board of Education Monday voted to eliminate 45 administrative and central office positions.
The Connecticut Post reported that the job cuts are the first of what could be more, due to the amount of red ink.
Officials have said that the deficit is largely the result of cuts in federal COVID funding, and rising costs for special education.
