BRIDGEPORT, CT — With Bridgeport's budget process underway for the 2025-26 fiscal year, city officials are not sure what lies ahead, due to the drastic cost-cutting moves of President Donald Trump and government efficiency appointee Elon Musk.

Mayor Joe Ganim is proposing a budget of $640.7 million, which the Connecticut Post reports contains no tax increases for next year. The proposal is about $7.1 million above the city's current spending plan, with the increase mainly attributed to a rise in salaries and benefits.

That proposal reportedly contains more $35 million in uncertain funding, and another $5 million in cuts that have not yet been determined. Click here to view the budget documents.
