Building Demolition Takes Down Some Power Lines In Bridgeport: Officials

Friday's heavy storm was not the cause of the structure coming down, according to officials.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — The scheduled demolition of a building in the Gregory Street/Myrtle Avenue area of Bridgeport resulted in a temporary power outage, according to city officials.

"Parts of the building took down power lines along with a [United Illuminating] pole," wrote Shawnna White, Bridgeport's Public Information Officer.

The incident was reported at about the 10:30 a.m., and UI crews were working to restore power. According to the utility company, less than a half-dozen customers were impacted.
