Bridgeport Man, 22, Shot and Killed in East End

BREAKING: Police have identified the victim killed on Read Street Tuesday. This marks the city's fourth homicide in the past month.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A local man gunned down on Read Street Tuesday night has been identified by police, reports the Connecticut Post. Kyree Kennedy, 22, was shot and killed in the area of Read Street and Beatrice Street at around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police say they saw people running from the scene toward Stratford Avenue when they arrived, and it was unclear whether those people were suspects.

There have been 10 homicides in Bridgeport so far in 2017, bringing the total up to the same number of homicides for all of 2016. There have also been four homicides within the past month.

Police are investigating the homicide of a baby boy in a Greene Homes apartment, as well as the death of a 33-year-old Stamford man in downtown Bridgeport. A 50-year-old man was also stabbed on Fremont Street Sunday night, and police say that a married couple told them they stabbed the man in self defense, reports the Connecticut Post.
