Bridgeport Police Sergeant Fired From Department: Chief

The termination followed a disciplinary hearing and investigation, according to Police Chief Roderick Porter.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Sgt. Marlon Campo, a 22-year veteran of the Bridgeport Police Department, has been fired from the Force following a disciplinary hearing on Tuesday, Chief Roderick Porter announced.

Details of what led to the termination were not disclosed, but Campo was placed on paid administrative leave in early 2025, after Campo, an instructor at the department's Police Academy, was accused of having a relationship with a recruit, News 12 Connecticut reported in February.

"As a result of a discipline hearing on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, Sergeant Marlon Campo’s employment with the Bridgeport Police Department was terminated effective immediately," Police Chief Roderick Porter said in a statement. "The Bridgeport Police Department takes all acts of misconduct seriously and whenever there are sustained charges, appropriate action is taken immediately. Public trust and confidence are dependent upon such actions by the Department."

Porter added that because this is an ongoing personnel matter, the department will not be making additional comments on the situation.

The Connecticut Post reported that the investigation involving Campo had to do with allegations of sexual misconduct, and in April the department sought the removal of his teaching credentials.
