Court Temporarily Blocks Demolition Of Blighted Bridgeport Building: Report
The city planned to begin demolishing a building on Cherry Street on Monday.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Mayor Joe Ganim had hoped to begin the demolition of the blighted building at 72 Cherry St. in Bridgeport on Monday, but a court order temporarily blocked the move, the Connecticut Post reported.
The building, which has been vacant for years, is part of the Cherry Street Lofts complex, but it and other buildings at the site have not been developed as expected.
More than 150 units and a charter school have been built at the complex, but Ganim and city officials have grown frustrated by the lack of progress on the remaining buildings.
