Illegal Firearm Seized By Bridgeport Police After Traffic Stop

The suspect does not have a pistol permit to possess a firearm, according to Bridgeport police.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 26-year-old Manchester man was arrested on weapons and motor vehicle charges Tuesday, after Bridgeport police found an illegal, loaded Glock firearm in the man's car after a traffic stop.

Eric Guillermo Goicochea was found to be in possession of the gun, which had an altered serial number, and police said Goicochea does not have a pistol permit. Additionally, police also seized two loaded gun magazines during the stop.

"The Bridgeport Police Department continues to prioritize public safety through proactive enforcement efforts," officials said in a statement.

Goicochea was taken into custody and charged with the following:

  • Illegal possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Illegal alteration of a firearm
  • Failure to properly store a firearm
  • Carrying a pistol without a permit
  • Operating a vehicle under suspension
  • Falsifying a marker/license plate
  • Operating a vehicle without insurance
  • Failure to obey a stop sign

He was held in lieu of bail of $75,000, and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
