Man Critically Wounded In Bridgeport After Gunshot To Head: Police

The victim, a New Haven man, was shot Sunday morning, according to authorities.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 22-year-old New Haven man is hospitalized in critical condition after he was shot in the head Sunday morning in Bridgeport, according to police.

The shooting occurred at about 11:20 a.m. in the 200 block of Goddard Avenue, where police found the victim in the street suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

Bridgeport police investigated the scene, which included Cogswell and Rockland streets.

"Multiple items of evidence have been observed at the scene," said Capt. Kevin Gilleran in a statement. "Those items, and more, will be collected and processed by the Police Department’s Forensic Identification Unit."

The Bridgeport Police Department is asking for the public's help in solving the crime. Anyone with information is asked to contact the case officer, Detective Jeffrey Holtz, at 203-581-5243.
