Pair Of Structure Fires Reported In Bridgeport Friday: FD

Both fires, one on James Street and the other on Boston Avenue, were reported at 2 p.m., according to authorities.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A pair of structure fires in Bridgeport Friday afternoon were doused by firefighters, but the aftermath of one of the blazes resulted in the displacement of nine people and two pets, according to fire officials.

Firefighters took about 35 minutes to extinguish a fire at a three-family home at 126 James St. on Friday.

The blaze was called in at 2 p.m., and no injuries were reported.

Members of the American Red Cross are assisting with the relocation of four adults, five kids, and two pets who were displaced by the fire, the cause of which is under investigation by the Bridgeport Fire Marshall’s Office.

The second fire, also called in at 2 p.m., broke out at a three-bay auto repair shop at 375 Boston Ave.

Again, no injuries were reported, and firefighters were about to keep the blaze from spreading.

Firefighters fought the blaze for less than an hour, and fire marshals are investigating the cause. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is coordinating clean up of the site.
