Bridgeport Sees Drop In Violent & Other Crimes In 2025: Mayor, Police Chief (patch.com) — Bridgeport residents are heading into 2026 with encouraging crime numbers, as city officials report sharp drops in violent crime, property crime, and shootings during 2025. Mayor Joe Ganim and Police Chief Roderick Porter credit increased police staffing and a stronger community policing model, noting homicides fell from 12 to four and quality of life is improving across Bridgeport neighborhoods.

Driver arrested after allegedly crashing into building in Bridgeport (wtnh.com) — Bridgeport police arrested a driver who allegedly crashed into a commercial building on Lindley Street Wednesday morning and then ran off. No injuries were reported, but officials haven’t yet determined how badly the building was damaged. The city’s Building Department will inspect the structure to ensure safety.

United Way says they're far short of the donations needed for families in Danbury, Bridgeport area (ctpost.com) — Families in the Bridgeport and Danbury areas are still waiting for help as United Way’s Giving Fund sits well below its $100,000 goal, with only about $23,000 raised so far. The fund supports local households with basics like food, utilities, transportation, and winter clothing, and organizers are urging residents to give or share the campaign to close the gap.
