Report Of Gunfire Leads To 'Lock-In/Lock-Out' Of Bridgeport School: PD

The temporary lockdown was lifted by 4 p.m. Monday afternoon, according to authorities.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Curiale School in Bridgeport was temporarily placed on "Lock-In/Lock-Out" status Monday afternoon, after Bridgeport police received a report of gunfire near the Laurel Avenue school.

Police received a ShotSpotter activation just after 3 p.m. in the area of the 40 block of Elmwood Avenue, and immediately placed the nearby school on lock-in/lock-out status as a precaution. ShotSpotter is a gunshot detection service that the police department uses in certain areas of the city.

A preliminary police report indicates no injuries have been reported, but how many gunshots were detected was not disclosed.

The protective measure was lifted before 4 p.m., but Bridgeport police are actively investigating the incident.
