Utility Companies To Give Bridgeport Residents Free Day At The Zoo
United Illuminating and Southern Connecticut Gas are sponsoring a free day at Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo on Oct. 5.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — The wildlife at the Beardsley Zoo won’t be the only ones showcasing the importance of conservation. On Saturday, October 5th, the sponsors of Energize Connecticut℠, United Illuminating (UI) and Southern Connecticut Gas (SCG), invite Bridgeport residents to enjoy Energy Conservation Day, a free event designed to teach families how to make their homes more energy efficient. From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., guests can explore the zoo’s exhibits, participate in interactive energy-saving activities, and learn easy ways to conserve energy at home while enjoying free food, carousel rides, and fun giveaways.

- Free admission: Exclusive to Bridgeport residents with ID or a utility bill.
- Family fun: Enjoy free food, a carousel ride, and a giveaway bag filled with goodies such as a kid’s coloring book, crayons, and glow sticks.
- Scavenger hunt: Kids (and adults) who complete the Energy Conservation Scavenger Hunt will earn the title of “Energy Conservation Ranger” and receive a free Glow Wild ticket, a $25 value.
- Energy In Action Mobile Interactive Exhibit: An innovative mobile learning experience that teaches children (and grown-ups) how to become more energy-efficient by making smart, energy-saving decisions daily.
- Energy efficiency information: All guests will learn how to reduce energy usage, improve home comfort, and save on heating and cooling costs with energy-efficient upgrades. Energy efficiency experts will be on-site to provide information on the Home Energy Solutions program, including professional air sealing and other energy-saving services.
