Original Story
Animal Control Officer Beverly LaPlume is seeking the owner of a female beagle found on North Mountain Road in Canton Wednesday, March 27.
The dog has a chip that was never registered but the company was able to trace it back to December of 2001, making the animal around 11 1/2 years old, LaPlume said.
Beagles can wander long distances and the animal is well behaved, LaPlume said
"She's very sweet," LaPlume said.
LaPlume said she has notified area animal control offices but no one has reported the animal missing.
Anyone with information is asked to call Avon animal shelter at 860-409-4205.
An missing ad is being published Friday, LaPlume added. If no one claims the animal 7 days after that, the animal will be up for adoption.
