CANTON, CT — Local town and school officials are looking for the community's input as it aims to create an environment where Canton's schoolchildren can safely eschew the school bus for other means of transportation.

The Canton Board of Education and the Town of Canton are participating in the Connecticut Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program.

The town's Safe Routes to School group will be presenting its findings and recommendations on Sept. 17, in the Canton Community Center, 40 Dyer Ave., beginning at 6 p.m.
As part of the development of a SRTS plan, public input is desired.
