Canton Schools Impacted By Computer Data Breach

CANTON, CT — Canton Public Schools were one of many school systems in Connecticut impacted this week by a data breach into school files.

The Canton School System Thursday posted a notice of the breach on its website.

According to school officials, local educators received preliminary notice from the town's data software contractor, PowerSchool, "of a data security incident that impacted employee and student information."

Canton officials said PowerSchool has not yet provided a list of impacted students and/or employees to the Canton Board of Education.

According to the local school system, school officials will contact those impacted directly via e-mail with added information on the situation.
