2 Hospitalized After Fire Breaks Out In Cheshire: Officials

A fire broke out at a house in Cheshire early Friday morning, according to officials.

CHESHIRE, CT — Two people were hospitalized after a fire broke out around 2:30 a.m. Friday on Rockview Drive in Cheshire, according to officials.

The first-arriving fire crews found a “two-story wood framed dwelling well involved in fire,” according to a news release from Cheshire Fire Chief Jack Casner.

The home was occupied by four people. One person and one dog were rescued by firefighters and police, according to Casner.

Casner said three people evacuated the home on their own.

Two people were taken to local hospitals and no firefighters were injured, according to Casner.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in approximately 60 minutes, Casner said.

The Hamden, Prospect and Wolcott fire departments provided mutual aid coverage for the incident.

Casner said there was significant damage to the entire structure and it is not habitable.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by Cheshire Fire Marshals, the Cheshire Police Department and the State Fire Marshal.
