23 Dogs Housed At Animal Shelter Find Forever Homes: Cheshire Police

More than 20 dogs have been adopted after spending the past two years at the Cheshire Animal Control following a settlement agreement.

CHESHIRE, CT — More than 20 dogs have been adopted after spending the past two years at the Cheshire Animal Control facility following the resolution of a “complicated legal case,” according to police.

Cheshire police announced Monday that the town was “finally permitted to begin adoptions” for most of the dogs two weeks ago.

Police said that as of Friday, Dec. 6, all 23 dogs housed at the animal control facility have been adopted into “their forever homes with loving families.”

“Additionally, seven dogs were returned to the defendant per the terms of a settlement agreement,” police wrote in a news release. “This milestone marks the first time in over two years that there are no dogs currently being held in the Animal Control facility.

“The Town extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Connecticut Humane Society for their invaluable assistance in facilitating this process. Their collaboration ensured that each dog had an opportunity to find a safe and loving environment.
