“My efforts to secure a Miracle Field in Cheshire all began with a young constituent with Angelman syndrome who wanted to play sports with his peers,” Linehan said. “Years later, we’ve secured $750,000 for this transformative project. Thank you to Town Council Chair Peter Talbot, Sen. Hochadel and my other legislative colleagues, Town Manager Sean Kimball, our Director of Parks and Recreation John Gawlak, Governor Lamont, and the State Bonding Commission for their approval of these funds. This is more than just a political bonding win – it's a beautiful opportunity for kids to be kids and play the sports they love.”

The Cheshire Miracle Field will be only the fourth in Connecticut, and will be the regional field for central Connecticut, including Cheshire, Hamden, Wallingford, Meriden, Waterbury, and more.

“Cheshire is thrilled to have only the fourth Miracle Field in Connecticut,” Cheshire Town Council Chair Peter Talbot said. “We are very proud of our recreational facilities in Cheshire and the building of this Miracle Field will be embraced and utilized by our citizens.”

“This inspiring project will open doors for Cheshire-area residents with disabilities, granting them safe opportunities for physical fitness, social interaction and community participation,” Sen. Jan Hochadel, D-Meriden, said. “I’m thrilled to see the State Bond Commission contributed significant state funding to ensure that local Miracle Teams have a facility designed to meet the unique needs of each athlete."

Already, parents are celebrating the news, with one remarking “This is the most spectacular news! Thank you from me as a mom of a special needs little boy and from him.”
