Community Corner

Minister Thanks Cheshire Community

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Cornerstone Church, I wanted to thank the many volunteers, donors and the Town of Cheshire who helped to make our Easter egg drop a special event.  Over 10,000 eggs were on the football field at Cheshire High School, with 4,000 eggs that were dropped from a helicopter joining over 6,500 eggs that were already spread across the field.  This community event was made possible through the work of many people.  Around 4,000 people from the surrounding area were able to participate in this free event, which far surpassed our greatest expectation.

I would like to especially thank Cheshire High School, which opened its field and facilities to us, and the High School maintenance crew, which assisted in the clean up.  I would also like to thank Cheshire High’s Athletic Director, Steve Trifone, who provided much assistance throughout the planning process, and the Cheshire police and fire departments, which provided important assistance with security and traffic.

In addition, we are indebted to the following businesses that generously donated prizes to participants:  Alphabet Garden; Applebee’s; Bagelicious; BJ’s Wholesale Club; Cheshire Sport Center; Cheshire Town Pool; Costco; Dairy Queen-Cheshire; Dunkin Donuts; Everybody’s; Holiday Cinemas; Lake Compounce; Laser Planet; Main Street Café; McDonald’s-Cheshire; Mr. D’s; Napoli Pizza; Peachy Keen; Pop’s Pizza; Posh Princess, LLC; Primo Pizza Wallingford; Quassy Amusement Park; Roller Magic; Rossini’s; Shef’s Bagels; Shop Rite; Stop & Shop – Cheshire; Sundae Spa; Sweet Claude’s; and Trendsetters Salon.  AirOcean Aviation also did a wonderful job safely dropping the eggs while hovering over the field.

I would also like to thank the volunteers of Cornerstone Church, who put in countless hours in order to put this event together.  And, of course, a heartfelt thanks goes out to Janine Mahan, who coordinated this entire effort.

Finally, I wanted to thank the community of Cheshire.  I know that this event created traffic and other inconveniences, and we are very appreciative of the understanding and support that we received.  We are fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful community.

With thanks and appreciation,

Pastor Eric Bucci
