• Cheshire chooses Scenario B2 for redistricting to tackle overcrowding (fox61.com) — Cheshire school officials have approved “Scenario B2” for redistricting, reshaping which elementary schools many students will attend starting in the 2026-27 year to ease overcrowding and modernize facilities. Families, especially those at Chapman and Highland, face friend groups being split and possible school changes, but a waiver process will open Jan. 26 for some Chapman students reassigned to Highland.
   

• Florida teen haunted by Connecticut sex assaults as child comes forward 10 years later, police say (greenwichtime.com) — Cheshire police have charged a man in connection with repeated sexual abuse of a young girl that allegedly began in town about a decade ago and was recently disclosed in Florida. Detectives from Cheshire and Southington worked with Florida authorities, leading to the suspect’s Dec. 8 arrest and extradition to Connecticut, where he is expected to be arraigned in Meriden Superior Court.
   

• Pope Leo XIV Appoints Monsignor Peter Bui as Auxiliary Bishop of Phoenix (usccb.org) — A new Catholic bishop with formative ties to Cheshire is stepping into leadership in Phoenix. Monsignor Peter Dai Bui once entered the Legion of Christ novitiate in Cheshire before years of ministry abroad and in Arizona. His appointment as auxiliary bishop of Phoenix highlights how Cheshire’s religious institutions quietly shape church leadership far beyond town lines.
