Town's State Senators Tour Emergency Shelter

To the Editor,

State Sen. Joe Markley and I want to thank everyone who came out to our November 2 "Senators on the Sidewalk" event outside Stop & Shop in Cheshire.

For two hours, we spoke to taxpayers about their many concerns, particularly those relating to the storm.  Although many folks voiced frustrations, most seemed to be making the best of a very difficult situation.

After the Stop and Shop “Sidewalk” event, we visited residents at the Cheshire High School shelter.  The town has done a great job keeping everyone safe and comfortable.

Around 8:00 p.m., Senator Markley visited a shelter in Southington and I left to check on Meriden residents at the Lincoln Middle School shelter.  Again, I must say that although it's been a trying time for all our residents, the people at the shelter appeared to be comfortable and well-cared for.

I just want you to know that I appreciate your patience and your sense of community.

Please continue to check on your elderly and disabled neighbors to see if there is anything they need.  A simple knock on a neighbor’s the door can help prevent a tragedy.

We will be holding more “Senators on Your Sidewalk” events in the future, and I look forward to seeing you then.

In the meantime, visit my website at www.senatorsuzio.com to sign my petition to cap the gas tax and my petition to eliminate the state’s tax on social security income.  On that site, you can also sign up for my electronic updates from the State Capitol.

Please feel free to contact me at Len.Suzio@cga.ct.gov or 1 800 842 1421 with any questions or comments you may have.

Sincerely,

Len Suzio
State Senator
