Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
No

Previous public office, appointive or elective:
Currently finishing my 3rd term as town council member, previously was on planning and zoning as an alternate.

Why are you seeking this office?
I am seeking a fourth term because we are in a very difficult economic time in our town. Taxes have risen over 12% to the average taxpayer and there’s no sign that it will be changing without a change in leadership. I am hoping my fellow republican candidates will win and help lead us out of these difficult times.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
Taxes. Everyone is concerned about the large increases we have seen in the past 2 years. I heard our budget chair state that in order to cut taxes you have to cut services. This is what is wrong with our current leadership. Narrow minded thinking. There are other ways to reduce taxes like increasing the grand list through targeted development, bidding out our medical trust fund, and looking closely at our spending. We also have to take a close look at our health department that has cost us a lot of money the past 2 years because of mismanagement and outside interference. There are ways to do this without removing services.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I honestly heard much from my opponent except for a video he did that made blanket political statements. Lower taxes, fully fund police and keep our education system top notch. So those are all things I want too, but I have ideas on how to get there

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
I hope we bring back a republican majority so we can work hard to bring down our taxes and bring back real transparency. We will also focus on targeted development, traffic issues and making sure we have strong and affordable health department.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
The first four years of my time on the council I served on the school modernization committee to bring to the town council 2 new elementary schools that will be opening next September. My second term I was the vice chairman of the council and served as chair of the solid waste committee which brought to the council a food waste recycling program for our schools. We also had 2 bulk trash pickups in my first 2 terms. We haven’t had one since. I will work hard to bring that back.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Work hard and good things will happen. Be yourself and people will appreciate your honesty and trustworthiness.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I ran for this office for one reason, I love Cheshire. I love the people, the businesses, the parks and the schools. I want to make sure that we can keep everyone here who wants to stay and not force them out because they can’t afford to stay. I do feel that everyone who serves this town is in it because they care about the town. We may not always agree but we will all do what we feel is best for Cheshire.
