Previous public office, appointive or elective:
Currently serving as Councilor At-Large Cheshire Town Council, previous Commissioner Cheshire Public Safety Commission
Why are you seeking this office?
I am seeking re-election to continue to bring a measured approach to leadership. I will continue to listen to residents, town staff, state agencies, and legal representation to make decisions for the best interest of the town. These decisions are rooted in what will make Cheshire a better place to live, work, and find peace. I am committed to maintaining the high level of service provided by the Town of Cheshire. I will work to involve the community in decision making and appreciate their input in how our town evolves. I believe in investing in our infrastructure and will work to support the continual modernization of our schools, roadways and parks. It is not the time to go back to the old ways of deferring investment in our town to keep taxes artificially low. It is time to take on the challenges for the next generation of Cheshire.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is the rising cost of living, and I intend to work with town staff, the Board of Education, the Superintendent of Schools his staff and my colleagues to maintain the high level of service we deserve in Cheshire while limiting budget growth and working to increase revenue through grand list growth.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
The major differences between myself and my opponents are I have the experience of being involved in the process of leading our town with integrity and transparency. My opponents have chosen to use divisive rhetoric instead of offering a positive attitude of inclusion. I believe in working to make our town safer for bicyclists, pedestrians and vehicles. I have worked collaboratively to keep our town's budget increases low. I have the attitude and creativity that will lead Cheshire into the future by investing in our town, my opponents have offered little more than attempts at discrediting of good deeds and disingenuous flashy, cartoonish attacks.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
I intend to reinforce that Democrats in Cheshire believe in integrity and respect proper process in governing. Democrats in Cheshire believe in investing in our open spaces and that we stand with our neighbors and respect their voices and concerns.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have worked with non profits that have uphill struggles to get a project launched that are now integral to our community and growing. I have the commitment to keep working towards hard goals that are not yet completed. Leadership in taking on hard challenges with a positive can-do attitude is what Cheshire needs.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
"It's ok to color outside the lines!" My mother reinforced that to me as a child and still does as an adult. As an artist, leader and member of a community, this is vital to coming up with productive creative solutions to problems.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I live in the 18th century family home of my grandparents. I have seen this town grow and change over the last 50 years. My grandparents were both active in civic organizations and I grew up seeing what it meant to give back to their community. As a current elected official I fully commit to their unselfish attitude of service. I strive to improve the quality of life in town by working with our various stakeholders in Cheshire, regionally and at the state level. I will work collaboratively to make our town departments, regional health district and facilities modern, well-equipped and have the leadership they need to prosper. This council has made great strides to achieving this and will continue to advance this agenda into the future.
The time has come once again to choose your representatives on the Cheshire Town Council. I am asking for your support as a candidate for Town Council At-Large. Thank you for your trust Cheshire.
