Cheshire High School Ranks Among Top 20 In CT In New Report

CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire High School was ranked as the 19th best public high school in Connecticut, according to a report released last week by Niche.

Cheshire received an overall letter grade of A from Niche in the rankings. Grades in specific categories were:

• Academics: A
• Teachers: A
• Clubs and activities: A
• Sports: A
• Resources and facilities: B
• Diversity: B
• College prep: B+
• Administration: B+
• Food: B

Cheshire High School has 1,239 students in grades 9-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 12 to 1. According to state test scores, 54 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 79 percent in reading, Niche says.

The 2025 Best Public High Schools in America ranking, released Monday, shows the best traditional public high schools in the nation, including magnet and charter schools.

Niche said its rankings, now in the 10th year, differ from others that rely almost exclusively on test scores and academic performance in that it also includes input from students, alumni and parents, as well as quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities.
