Cheshire High School Student Dies Suddenly: Reports

School activities, including freshman orientation, were canceled after the sudden death of a student, according to multiple reports.

CHESHIRE, CT — The Cheshire High School community is mourning the sudden death of a student, according to multiple reports.

Superintendent of Schools Jeff Solan posted a notification on Instagram Wednesday night that the school’s freshman orientation had been canceled on Thursday morning.

WFSB 3 reported that Solan later sent a letter to the school community announcing the student’s death as the reason for the cancellation. The student’s identity isn’t being released out of respect for the family, according to Solan.

“It is important for students to speak with an adult if they have any concerns or questions,” Solan said in the letter, via WFSB 3. “As a school system, we want to make sure we are supporting all of our students and our community. You are encouraged to talk to a parent, counselor here at school, another trusted adult, or to call 211 from your phone for mental health/grief support.”

All activities that had been scheduled at the school on Thursday were canceled, according to NBC Connecticut.
