CHESHIRE, CT — Eversource has given the town a commitment to restore power to an additional 5,575 customers in Cheshire by the end of Friday, officials said in an update. Eversource also announced they expect statewide substantial completion of restoration by the end of the day Tuesday.

“Town Public Works crews have been working 24 hours a day to clear roads, but they cannot clear trees entangled in wires until an Eversource crew is there to manage and confirm the de-energizing of the lines,” officials wrote in a news release. “Without the attention of Eversource professionals, the power line could be reenergized and our crew members could be seriously injured or killed. Town personnel are ready to be on scene with Eversource crews throughout the weekend.”
