"These bench/storage units will provide clean safe seating for my students with quick and easy access to important manipulative's for our lessons! First graders use a variety of supplies to participate in learning. Storing those supplies and accessing them seamlessly can be a challenge."

The request includes two book benches, which cost a total of $638.12. Kotlarz said the units will allow the students to stop sitting on the floor of the classroom.

"These first graders love to participate. We have a fabulous school. These rugs... are in need of removal," Kotlarz wrote.

Cheshire residents may help support the fundraising. DonorsChoose.org allows users to give as little as $1. It's grassroots support for a local teacher!
