[UPDATE] State Loan for Company with Few Ties to Connecticut
Yogurt company gets $200,000 state loan; operates in New York City.

The Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development announced it will loan $200,000 to Healthy Mom LLC, a company whose corporate agent, William S. Colwell, resides at 145 Bellamy Rd. in Cheshire. The only other Connecticut connection to the company is a business address at 2319 Whitney Ave. in Hamden, according to the Secretary of the State.
Despite receiving one of the largest loans in the latest round of state business awards, the company operates in New York City where it makes and packages a product called Maia Yogurt.
The company's website states that it hopes to expand its reach in the rapidly growing yogurt market. The company makes Maia Yogurt, a probiotic Greek-style product, which is available at Big Y, Stew Leonard’s and IGA supermarkets.
