CHS Girls CC Team Wins 1st Place On 10-13-23 Meet At Cheshire Park

They won first place at a home meet at Cheshire Park Meet against Lyman Hall High School of Wallingford on Friday, October 13th.

CHS GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM WINS 1ST PLACE AT HOME MEET AT CHESHIRE PARK ON 10-13-23.

The calendar date read Friday, October 13, 2023. Nothing bad happened on this day, just good fortunes for the Cheshire High School Lady Rams Cross Country Team. They won first place at a home meet at Cheshire Park against Lyman Hall High School of Wallingford on Friday, October 13th. The score was CHS 15 Lyman Hall 50.

The Lady Rams Cross Country Team finished in the Top Ten at the meet. Coming in first place was student-athlete Tri-Captain and senior Alexa Ciccone with a time of 18:52. In second place was senior and Tri-Captain Mia Vientos 19:54, third was Emily D’Souza 20:24, fourth Eva Curran 20:38, fifth Ava Ciccone 21:03, sixth Sage Falcon 21:06, seventh Julia Gonzalez 21:20, eight Sarah Curran 21:20.5, ninth Jocelyn Grace 22:29 and tenth senior & Tri-Captain Katie Hall 22:36. The team is now 10-0.

Prior to the start of the race there was a brief ceremony to bid farewell to the seniors who will be graduating next year as part of the Class of 2024. Head Coach Rob Schaefer said, “We honored our four seniors today. What a class! One of the most accomplished classes I’ve ever coached. All four girls – Alexa Ciccone, Mia Vientos, Katie Hall, and Abby Cortigiano – have given so much to our team over the years! We thank them so much!”

Regarding the team’s first place victory over Wallingford’s Lyman Hall High School, Coach Schaefer stated, “Our girls continue to run intelligent, forceful, determined races. This is an amazingly hard-working, cohesive group. This coach could not be prouder.” He singled out student-cross country athlete Emily D’Souza by stating, “Emily D’Souza continues to grow and improve. She should be very happy with her running.”

The next event for the Lady Rams Cross Country Team will be the SCC Championship in New Haven on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. Race time for the frosh is 1 p.m., varsity 3 p.m. and jv 4:20 p.m.
