CHS Lady Rams CC Team Wins 6th Place On 11-11-23 New England Meet
The Lady Rams Varsity Cross Country Team won 6th Place with a score of 292 points.

CHS GIRLS VARSITY CROSS COUNTRY TEAM WINS 6TH PLACE AT NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIP MEET ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2023 IN BELFAST, MAINE.

“We hope to represent Connecticut well,” stated Head Cheshire High School Girls Cross Country Coach Rob Schaefer prior to his team’s competition at the New England Interscholastic Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 11, 2023 in Belfast, Maine. And his team did. They also made Cheshire High School and the town of Cheshire proud as well.

The Lady Rams Cross Country Team won 6th Place with a score of 292 points. The top 6 teams are #1 Champlain Valley High School, Union, Vermont 97 points, #2 Oyster River High School of Oyster River, New Hampshire 130 points, #3 Pinkerton Academy of Pinkerton, New Hampshire 198 points, #4 Glastonbury High School 229 points, #5 Hanover High School of Hanover, New Hampshire 247 points & #6 Cheshire High School with 292 points.
The CHS team finished ahead of Greenwich High School who came in 8th Place at Saturday’s meet which won 1st Place at the State Open on November 6, 2023 in Manchester and New Canaan High School which placed 26th at the New England Meet.

Cheshire High School Student Cross Country Athlete Senior & Tri-Captain Alexa Ciccone received the “All New England Award” at Saturday’s meet. She finished in 14th Place with a time of 18:23.94. In 2022, at the New England Meet in North Scituate, Rhode Island her time was 18:49. Two years ago when she competed as a sophomore she finished in 29th Place with a time of 20:42.
Next up for the Lady Rams at the New England Meet was Tri-Captain & Senior Mia Vientos 76th time 19:35.77; Ava Ciccone #114 time 20:10.87; Emily D'Souza #119 time 20:14.37; Sage Falcon #141 time 20:44.23; Julia Gonzalez #196 time 21:32.75; and Eva Curran #205 time 21:40.64.
Head Coach Rob Schaefer again was very happy with his team’s 6th Place finish at Saturday’s New England Meet. “I'm very happy. Just to get here is amazing. To finish sixth in New England is the "icing on top of the icing". I am so happy for these girls as I have been all season,” commented Schaefer.
The Lady Rams Cross Country Team now has the distinction of being the 6th Best High School Cross Country Team in all of New England.
