Firefighters Rescue Dog From Swamp In Cheshire
A Happy Tail: Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to locate the dog in the dark.

CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to locate a lost dog in a swamp on Monday night. The Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department shared a photo on Facebook of Firefighter David Tanner carrying Molly out of a swamp near Rockview Drive. Molly was stranded out in the bog and her owner couldn’t find her in the dark. After firefighters located her using the thermal imaging camera, they extended a ladder out to reach her.
Molly’s owner thanked firefighters for rescuing her dog, writing in the comments section of the Facebook post: “These guys are amazing! They did what I was unable to do. I tried to go out into the bog to save my dog but I couldn’t see her in the dark. I am so appreciative to the Cheshire Fire Department for rescuing Molly. This was not an easy feat. They scoured the bog from all sides in order to locate her. They laid a 28 ft. Ladder across the thick, deep bog to get to her. I am grateful to live in this community and to know that I can count on our Fire and PD to keep us and our loved ones safe. Thank you so much to all of you!!”
