Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary Needs Your Help

Rescuing abused, neglected and abandoned farmed animals

Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) organization that is committed to rescuing farmed animals that have been abused, neglected or abandoned. We provide these animals that have suffered extreme cruelty, with medical care, rehabilitation, food and shelter. Most importantly they will live out the remainder of their lives free of pain and suffering at the sanctuary. They will experience love, probably for the first time in their lives.

A sanctuary like FFAS helps rescued animals heal and live a healthy life without the emotional and physical trauma of changing environments and changes in diet and care. Moreover, keeping in mind the physical damage caused in most cases of abuse and neglect, these animals need tailored caregiving for long periods of time with supervised medical treatment. The FFAS facility allows the rescued animals that we house this privilege. Unfortunately, many of the laws against animal neglect focus on companion animals like dogs and cats and fail to include farmed animals or trapped wildlife. The FFAS works specifically to address the gap that allows for abuse and neglect towards farmed animals to go unnoticed under the law.

We found out early on that there is a tremendous need for help in rescuing farmed animals. We reached our full capacity in just a few months. We currently have 35 animal residents at the sanctuary. We have had to turn away cases because we just don't have the room, which breaks our hearts.

Our present facility is a rented space in Middlebury, unfortunately our lease does not all us to invite visitors. FFAS is fundraising to acquire larger property and to fund the completion of a facility that will not only house our current animals, but allow us to rescue hundreds more. We are developing programs to raise awareness of the plight that mistreated farmed animals face on a daily basis through outreach programs, school visits and animal sponsorship opportunities. Our mission is demonstrate that providing a permanent, nurturing environment for all agricultural animals is our roles as a responsible society that values the sanctity of animal life.

We are hoping for a steady stream of donations and animal sponsorships to ensure that our sanctuary will continue to grow in size, while gaining regional recognition and respect.
