Happy Independence Day!

This year July 4, 2023, will mark the 247th birthday of our young nation. This was the day when the founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence stating our separation from Great Britain so we could form our own country.

On this day 247 years ago the 2nd Continental Congress unanimously ratified the Declaration of Independence which resulted in the thirteen colonies breaking away from England.

The opening of the Declaration of Independence states "The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."
