Hometown Foundation Donates to 29 K-9 Units Across the Country

Honoring our Police K-9 Heroes

(The Hometown Foundation, Inc.)

The Hometown Foundation, Inc. hosted its Annual Hometown Heroes $15,000 Grant Giveaway to support Police K-9 Units across the country. There were 29 applications from Police K-9 Units from 22 different states across the country. The Hometown Foundation granted the Top Three (3) K-9 Units each with $5,000 worth of K-9 training equipment of their choice, equaling a total of $15,000 in equipment donations across the three departments. Congratulations to our Top 3 Grant Recipients:

  • K-9 Ronin and Officer Robert Ungurean of Upper Southampton Police Department, PA
  • K-9 Wes and Officer Gage Cvijic of Lower Paxton Township Police Department, PA
  • K-9 Nixo and Officer Brandon Sullivan of Coventry Police Department, RI

The Hometown Foundation has received an overwhelming amount of support during our Hometown Heroes Police K-9 Grant Giveaway. The K-9 communities displayed immense generosity and support for their first responders. We would like to take a moment to honor Officer Ayotte and K-9 Tank of Southington Police Department and Officer Jodoin and K-9 Blue of Fairhaven Police Department who showed exceptional community engagement throughout the entire process. As a result, The Hometown Foundation has decided to grant every single K-9 Unit who applied for our Grant Giveaway with K-9 equipment. This is made possible because of every individual who voted and supported their favorite Police K-9!

We believe in no K-9 left behind which is why we are granting K-9 equipment in the values of $100 - $5,000 to each K-9 Unit who applied. In total, The Hometown Foundation, Inc. will be donating $22,800 worth of K-9 Equipment to the respective law enforcement agencies. Thank you to the public, K-9 supporters, individuals, family, and friends for your constant support for our law enforcement community and first responders. We appreciate each and every one of you.

About The Hometown Foundation, Inc.

The Hometown Foundation works year-round to support five pillars of charitable focus benefitting Animal Welfare, Emergency Response Personnel, Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities or In Need, Major Illness, and the Military. The Hometown Foundation’s Police K-9 Program donates fully equipped, single and dual purpose K-9s along with accompanying training equipment to law enforcement agencies across the country. In 2022, we are committed to donating 10 K-9s to departments in 5 states. The Foundation focuses on fundraising year-round to support this program and recognizes February as Police K-9 Awareness month. Although it is a year-round program, the majority of our fundraising efforts during the month of February are directly focused on the K-9 Program.

Under The Foundation’s Emergency Response Personnel pillar, our Police K-9 Program aims to assist deserving law enforcement agencies and their K-9 Units who embody the principles of honor, respect, pride, and compassion, while simultaneously making a difference within their communities.

K-9 Handlers who are employed by a law enforcement agency are on the job 24 hours a day. Taking on the role of a K-9 Handler is a nonstop task for both the handler and the K-9. K-9s need full attention, constant training, hours of playtime, continuous obedience drills, and everything in between. K-9 Units are an integral part to law enforcement agencies across the country. Many K-9 Units are not fully funded by their local or state municipalities and rely heavily on private donations. This is where The Hometown Foundation takes action!
