Man Killed In House Fire Identified: Cheshire Police
A man and a dog were found dead among the debris of a house fire in Cheshire on Tuesday, according to police.

CHESHIRE, CT — The man killed in a house fire Tuesday in Cheshire has been identified as 32-year-old Zackary Naoumides of Cheshire, police said in an update Wednesday.
Lt. Jeffrey Sutherland said the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on the body found in the debris of the fire and identified Naoumides.
“The investigation into the cause and origin of the fire is ongoing and will be headed by the Cheshire Fire Department Fire Marshal’s Office in conjunction with the Connecticut State Police Fire Marshal’s Office and Cheshire Police Detectives,” Sutherland wrote in a news release.

Crews responded around 3 a.m. Tuesday to a house on Brookside Place that was fully engulfed in flames, according to police.
Cheshire Fire Chief Jack Casner described the house as a “total loss” and said there was a collapse in the back of the home, according to WTNH News 8.

Sutherland previously said investigators learned that an adult male resident reportedly escaped the burning structure and summoned help from a neighbor, and was later taken to an area hospital for treatment.
