New Restaurant "The Place" to Open in Cheshire

The former West Main Grill will reopen later this month.

West Main Grill had been a cozy spot for breakfast and lunch in West Cheshire for about six years until owner Jeff Strange closed down in late April. But, the location, next to Pop's Pizza, won't be empty for long.

New owners Lori and Chris Sheehan of Cheshire plan to open "The Place," at 532 W. Main by the end of this month, they said Tuesday.

Lori Sheehan said the couple planned to redecorate the small cafe which had been decorated with mounts of large game fish caught by Strange.

The Sheehans said they'll have similiar hours to the former grill — 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., — but they plan on some changes to the fare. "We'll kick up the menu to offer panninis," and other popular items, Lori Sheehan said. The most noticable change, she said, would be new weekend evening hours.

"After five we'll have appetizers, milk shakes, burgers and wings, for the teenage crowd," Lori Sheehan said. She said Cheshire High School students often drive out of town to meet on weekends and the couple wants to offer a local destination. "It will be less driving, it will be safer," Lori Sheehan said.

The couple haven't owned a restaurant before, but Lori Sheehan said she's catered for large crowds and family members who have run restaurants said they are ready to help. Strange has agreed to stay on for a while, she said, to help with the transition.
