Obituary: Joseph W. Crebase, 71, Of Cheshire

Joe served in the United States Army and then worked as a diesel mechanic for Copart in New Britain for many years until his retirement.

CHESHIRE, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Joseph W. Crebase, 71, of Cheshire. Loving husband of Joan (Williams) Crebase, passed away May 9, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Joe was born in West Hartford on December 21, 1952, a son of the late Beatrice Crebase.

Joe served in the United States Army and then worked as a diesel mechanic for Copart in New Britain for many years until his retirement. Joe was a lifelong avid bowler. He was Executive Officer at the Silver City Gun Club in Meriden. He also participated in the Metropolitan Pistol League.

Joe had a special relationship with his niece, Heidi, sharing their mutual love of growing plants and flowers.

In addition to his wife, Joan, he is survived by his brothers, John Gavallas and Nick Gavallas and his wife, Aleida; his brother-in-law, Mark Williams; his sisters-in-law, Jessie Amell and Diane Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.

Joe’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., on Friday, May 17, 2024 from 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. His funeral will follow at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home with military honors, prayer with Fr. Santiago, and singing by the Mount Hebron Church Choir. Interment will be private.
