Obituary: Joseph William ‘Sonny’ Nette, 97, Of Cheshire
A U.S. Navy veteran during WWII, he operated his family business, Bridge Garage, for more than 25 years for his many loyal customers.

CHESHIRE, CT — (From Alderson-Ford Funeral Home): Joseph William “Sonny” Nette, 97, of Cheshire, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Masonicare in Wallingford. He was the devoted husband of the late Margaret Nette for over 73 years until her passing in 2021. Joseph was born on July 30, 1926 in Stamford, son of the late William J. and Grace (Mondanaro) Nitti.
Joseph served his country with honor and pride with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He and his wife, Margaret relocated their family from Stamford to Westport in 1973, where he operated his family business, Bridge Garage, for over 25 years for his many loyal customers.
Joseph and his family enjoyed vacationing in Lake Carmel, NY and making memories with his boat, “3B’s”, named after his children. He was a cigar aficionado and savored fine wine.

“King Pin” of the family, he was also a very generous man who put others and their wellbeing before his own up until his own passing.
Mr. Nette is the beloved father of Beverly Cristino and her husband, Joseph of Cheshire; Brenda Nette-Metcalf of Cheshire; and William Nette and his wife, Sonia of New Port Richey, FL. He is also survived by his five loving grandchildren, John J. Hilzinger, Krista Ostuno, Renee Metcalf, William M. Nette, and Scott J. Nette; his four cherished great-grandchildren, Todd J. Fournier, Ryan Fournier, Dominic Ostuno, and Dillon Ostuno; and many nieces and nephews.
