OUTSTANDING SEASON FOR THE 2022 FALL CHS BOYS CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS.

The Fall 2022 Cheshire High School Boys Cross Country Teams had an outstanding season with only two losses to Middletown's Xavier High School & Madison's Daniel Hand High School. The boys' team met their goal of being one of the top varsity programs in Connecticut according to Head Coach Pam Gunneson. The Tri Captains for the team were Seniors Clyde D'Souza, Michael DeJoseph & Colin Grevelding.

At their first meet on September 8th in North Haven they defeated their opponents-Fairfield Prep, Foran of Milford & North Haven. After this meet Gunneson commented, "The team's strong finish suggests that we should have an excellent season." Gunneson's prediction came true and the CHS Boys CC teams did exactly that.

The next meet was the Wilton CC Invitational on September 17th. The varsity team in the 3.1-mile race took 8th place. CHS took 4th place in the 1.5-mile frosh race, & in the 3.1-mile JV race CHS took 10th place. On September 20th in Madison the boys came in 2nd place behind Daniel Hand of Madison while defeating Hamden High School & Career Magnet of New Haven. The Rams were at 5 wins 1 Loss.

On September 24th at the Winding Trails Invitational in Farmington the CHS Boys Team won 2nd place finishing behind 1st Place Glastonbury.

The next meet on September 29th the SCC Divisional Championships in Guilford was the best of all for the CHS Boys CC Teams. They won first place and became the 2022 Housatonic Division Champions! First Time in 20 Years! Head Coach Pam Gunneson stated, “Cheshire Boys have taken the title!” The Rams had a Fantastic Finish, and they made the Top 5, Top 10, Top 15, Top 20 & Top 25 runners at the meet. They dominated the meet. The top scorers for the Rams were #1 Tyler Caron time 16:28.90, #5 Colin Grevelding time 17:02.10, #6 James Boyd time 17:11.20, #7 Daniel D’Souza time 17:15.20, #13 Jack Lengyel time 17:35.60, #19 Jeremiah Mann time 17:55.40, #21 Michael DeJoseph time 17:59.80 & #22 Brian Krzanowski time 18:14.10.

On October 8th at the Wickham Invitational CC meet in Manchester the varsity team came in 9th place. The JV team came in 12th place. The Frosh team finished in 5th Place. On the October 11th meet in Cheshire the team defeated Branford & Jonathan Law but lost to Xavier. On Friday, October 14th against Lyman Hall of Wallingford CHS Boys CC Team won.

At the SCC Cross Country Championships in New Haven on October 19, 2022. The varsity squad took 4th place, the jv team took 6th place & the frosh team took 2nd place. CHS Student CC Athletes Tyler Caron made 1st Team All SCC honors and Colin Grevelding 2nd Team All SCC honors. CHS Frosh Athletes Hanan Talipan - Pinedo and Zack Chasen finished 5th and 7th. The CIAC Cross Country Divisional Championships at Wickham Park in Manchester on October 29, 2022, the CHS Boys Varsity CC Team won 3rd
Place.
