Tropical Storm Isaias knocked out power to more than 95 percent of Cheshire, according to Town Manager Sean M. Kimball.

CHESHIRE, CT — Tropical Storm Isaias knocked out power to more than 95 percent of Cheshire, according to Town Manager Sean M. Kimball.
The town is working closely with Eversource, although power isn’t expected to be restored for several days, officials said in an update Wednesday afternoon. Residents are encouraged to report outages to Eversource, even though it may be a duplicate report, by calling 800-286-2000, texting 'OUT' to 23129, or reporting online here.
“Police, Fire, and Public Works personnel are all working to get roads passable and safe,” officials wrote in a news release. “Downed wires and trees on wires are prevalent throughout town. Motorists are urged to treat all downed wires as live.”

The charging station will be open Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Thursday and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. if the power outage is still widespread.
Town Hall offices are operating, although the library, the Community Pool, and other smaller town facilities and services will be closed until power is restored, officials said.
The town will be opening areas for brush and debris drop-off once roads and public facilities have been cleared and debris have been disposed. Officials expect to announce details soon.
